Explore aviation and journey through history at the Palm Springs Air Museum in California
Students gasp with wonder upon entering the open floor hangars at the educational non-profit Palm Springs Air Museum. Â More than 75 vintage aircraft are contained in 91,000 square feet of climate-controlled hangar space and outside on the tarmac abutting the Palm Springs International Airport. Â Ideal for students of all ages, families and schools can visit on their own or ask for a Self-Guided Tour Brochure. Volunteer docents are located throughout the museum to answer questions. Several docents flew these aircraft and are happy to share their experiences.
The Palm Springs Air Museum is dedicated to educating the public and future generations about the role that Air Power played (and continues to play) in preserving American liberties and way of life, starting with World War II. Open 362 days a year, 10 to 5, we’re ADA accessible, with a café on site, education library, and flight simulators. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome. Free parking.
There are no ropes holding visitors back from getting up close and personal to most of the aircraft. There are currently seven aircraft that are licensed to fly. When not flying, these aircraft are in the hangars or on the tarmac. Most Saturday mornings from November through May, visitors may see aircraft taking off and landing at the museum.
