The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, with works from six continents spanning more than 6,000 years, offers guided tours to scavenger hunts for students of all ages. The Virginia Museum of History & Culture brings the past to life with themed tours covering topics like Black history and women’s history, connecting visitors to the people and events that shaped Virginia and the nation. And at the American Civil War Museum, age-appropriate options include a walking tour along the James River that explores the history of the museum’s site—Tredegar Iron Works, a key artillery production site during the war. Groups visiting Richmond can’t help but leave with new perspectives and a fuller picture of how the nation came to be.
