Field trips to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Hall offer students an unforgettable introduction to the power of classical music. Through the Educational Concert Series (ECS), which has inspired young audiences for over 80 years, students in grades 3–8 can experience 45-minute performances that blend orchestral music with themes from science, history and art.
Held in the historic Orchestra Hall, these concerts engage students with music’s ability to tell stories and spark imagination. Pre-concert materials prepare students to engage with the music, and post-performance discussions deepen their understanding. These experiences are ideal for elementary and middle school students, fostering a lifelong appreciation for music.
